FAQs

Answers to Your Most Common Questions

  • What is the general price range for a kitchen or bathroom remodel in Kansas City?

For kitchen remodeling in the Kansas City Metro, our projects typically fall between $10,000 and $25,000 for builder-grade work, and $35,000 or more for luxury-grade results. Bathroom remodeling costs vary based on the scope of the project, the condition of the existing space, and the materials selected. Because every home is different, especially older Kansas City homes with unique structural histories, we use a free consultation call followed by a $75 on-site walk-through to give you a realistic, scope-specific estimate rather than a number pulled from thin air. Call us at 816-301-5076 to get started.
  • How much does a basement buildout typically cost in the Kansas City area?

Basement buildouts are our most requested and most involved project type. Pricing depends heavily on the size of the space, the finish level you want, and any structural work required. As a general starting point, the $10,000 to $25,000 range covers many mid-range basement finishing projects, though larger or more customized builds will exceed that. Because basements in older Kansas City homes can carry surprises like moisture issues or compromised framing from previous contractors, an on-site assessment is essential before we can give you a reliable number. Our $75 walk-through fee is waived for hourly-billed jobs.
  • What does your 3-step process look like, and what does each step cost?

Our process is designed to protect both your budget and your time. It starts with a free consultation call where we align on your project vision and get a rough sense of timeline. From there, we schedule a $75 on-site walk-through to assess the full scope of the project in person. That fee is waived for jobs billed hourly. The final step is a design estimate at $150 per room, which includes basic drawings and a material list. That fee is waived once you accept the estimate. After that, a 25 to 50 percent deposit secures your spot on our schedule, with priority given in the order deposits are received.
  • What do smaller repairs and specialty services cost?

We handle a range of secondary services with transparent pricing. Painting, ceiling texture removal, and wallpaper removal run $400 to $1,600 or more depending on room size. Framing is priced at $7.50 to $12.50 per square foot, and drywall hanging and taping comes in at $100 per sheet. Luxury vinyl plank flooring installation runs $3 to $5 per square foot. Window and door replacements range from $300 to $2,400 per unit. Toilet replacements are $300, and ceiling fan installations are $150. Custom work and demo is billed at $400 per person per day, with a minimum of $800.
  • How long does a typical remodeling project take from start to finish?

Remodeling project timelines vary based on the type and complexity of the work. A bathroom refresh may take a week or two, while a full basement buildout or kitchen remodel can run several weeks to a couple of months. During our on-site walk-through, we discuss a realistic timeline specific to your project so there are no surprises. We also plan our work to minimize disruption to your daily life, and our clean-as-you-go approach means you won't come home to a mess at the end of each workday.
  • Why don't you list exact prices for every service instead of a general pricing guide?

We moved away from broad price lists because a number without context can be misleading. A kitchen remodel in a 120-year-old Kansas City home with compromised framing is a very different project from one in a newer build. Posting a single price could either undersell the real scope of the work or cause a homeowner to walk away before we've had a chance to understand their actual needs. Our FAQ pricing guide gives you a solid starting ballpark, and our free consultation call fills in the rest. This approach protects you from sticker shock and protects us from underquoting complex jobs.
  • Is RemodelWise licensed and accredited, and what credentials should I know about?

Yes. RemodelWise LLC holds a BBB A+ rating and has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since January 2023. We are a woman-owned and queer-owned business, which matters to many of our clients who want to feel genuinely comfortable with the team they invite into their home. Our co-owners bring over 30 years of combined experience rooted in institutional-grade property management, meaning the same standards used to maintain large property portfolios are applied to every residential project we take on in the Kansas City Metro.
  • Do you work on older homes, and what challenges should I expect with an older Kansas City property?

Older homes are something we know well. We have direct experience correcting structural and cosmetic failures in homes over 100 years old, including cases where previous contractors had compromised the framing, plumbing, and drywall. Kansas City has a rich stock of historic homes, and many carry hidden challenges behind the walls. Our on-site walk-through is specifically designed to surface those issues before work begins, not after. If you're dealing with the aftermath of a shoddy remodel or working with an older property that needs careful handling, call us at 816-301-5076 or contact us online to schedule a walk-through.
